“I only talk this way because it show you an re speaking to me. ” Narcisaa points an accusing finger at her cousin- though it quickly falls with his question. Silents floods the air and she it’s a long moment before she speaks; “I’m not sure if you’re just being cruel- or you really don’t know. Either way, I’ll tell you..- he’s dead.”
Sirius stared at her in mild disbelief. He had honestly not known. “Is he now?” He sounded mildly surprised, “Well, I am not going to say I am truly sorry to hear that dear cousin. If I wanted to be cruel I would have phrased my question differently. I honestly did not know. I have been underground for quite some time and am only now finding out quite a bit of new things such as my Godson living in my old house…with your son.”
“Oh…” Narcissa crossed her arms, smiling lightly. ‘That.” She moves her hands to her hips, looking down at the ground- contemplating what to say. ‘I wonder whether you knew yet. If you know about Harry and Draco- then I’m sure you know about Remus and I?”
Sirius nearly choked on his own tongue. His eyes widened a significant bit more, “Wait…what?” He stared at her incredulously, “No. You and…maybe I did die and this is simply hell…I didn’t think…what?” He was beside himself. “Last I heard, Remus…” His eye twitched, “Dear cousin…it seems I need to be caught up on the goings on of the world since I bowed out so many years ago…”
Narcissa pursed her lips and was silent for another long moment; “First off, you need to know that…I am a very different person than I was the last time we met.” How long ago was that? 10? 15 years? They couldn’t have been more than children. “I’ve changed. If I hadn’t…I don’t Remus would be with me.”
Sirius stared at her and cocked his head to the side, “Are you now? Have you suddenly turned over a new leaf? That you are a good person? How am I supposed to see this hmm? But alright, I will believe you have changed…if Remus puts up with you…let’s just be clear, Remus, the member of the Order Remus? Is who you are now married to?”
Cissi rolls her eyes- Sirius was always a stubborn arse. “I’m not married to him…yet. And I don’t expect you to believe me- though people do. Evans does- and you are well aware how awful I was to her in school. Though maybe it’s just because you’re blood; harder to get to, to convince. After all, blood is thinker than water.”
“Yet? Should I be expecting an invite to the wedding or should I show up as a four legged stray?” His eyes narrowed, “Her name is Lily. Not Evans.” He said with a chilly tone. “Yes, I am well aware of how terrible you were to her in school, and me for the house I wound up in…and yes, blood is very much thicker than water, but seeing as I was more or less cut off from my blood, I might as well be water, wouldn’t you agree dear cousin?”
“….” Narcissa stares at him- all the wasted years; all the anger between them made her sick to her stomach. “I didn’t come here for you to be ugly to me.” She shakes her head, eyes narrowed at her own cousin. “I was cut off too, Sirius- though it was much more recent for me. But as I said, I didn’t come here to exchange cruel words. I came here to tell you that…-“
“I’m sorry.”
Sirius was speechless, or at least was rendered speechless by his cousin’s last two words. “Cissy…” He said in a hushed whisper. He wanted to hate her for all the terrible things her previous husband had done to his godson and the only family that he had truly known, but seeing as the one woman he cared about walked back into his life and had forgiven his cousin, Sirius was having a hard time being able to forgive her as well. “I..I forgive you.” He said softly, “And…for what it’s worth…I’m sorry too.”
“I’m sorry for all the things I said to you.” She continues, her fingers lacing together nervously. Cissi had been such a vicious teenage girl. She was an entire 4 years older than him- already becoming an adult when he was still a child at school; running around with those friends of his. Merlin, the things she said to him. Blood traitor; worthless; a stain on the Black family tapestry. Looking back, it was hard to believe that she would say such things to her own kin.
“If I could take it all back- I would. You were family and I should have treated you that way.”
Sirius sighed and stared at Cissi, “It’s…fine.” He murmured quietly to himself and to her. “I forgive you Cissi. I honestly do. I just, it’s hard to see you as a different person. I know you are seeing as you are actually apologizing, but, I am a bit surprised.”
He stood up and stared at her, walking over to her and stared her in the eyes, “It will take me some time to get used to, but I have to say it is nice to have some family ties again.” He offered her a small smile before hugging her gently, “And if Lily could find it in her heart to forgive you…I can too.”
“How nice of Draco to name his after my dear cousin…thank you for at least calling yours Padfoot Harry.” He laughed quietly to himself.
“I only talk this way because it show you an re speaking to me. ” Narcisaa points an accusing finger at her cousin- though it quickly falls with his question. Sirius scoffed, “Oh, really? I am dear to you because I can hear the acid in the tone of voice, and you haven’t spoken to me since before I was sentenced into that prison…tell me, how is your dear…husband?” He cracked his neck and stared at her.
